how to treat Rust on aluminium closet?

I have a aluminium closet in my bathroom which is getting rusted. what do i do that i can get rid of rust? if absolutely nothing can be done could it be painted ? will it rust after painting? it might be stainless steel... how do i go about it?

1. If its Aluminum it wont rust. Its probably stainless steal or something like it.
2. first aluminium doesn't rust. first sand,clean,use a bonding sealing primer(sherwin williams) paint
3. aluminum doesn't rust. neither does stainless steal. You probably have chromed steal which can be primed and painted
4. use navel jelly, it totally destroys rust without tons of sanding and scraping. then paint on a sealer so it doesnt rust again. you can get it at any hardware store.
5. Amanda is right .....naval jelly is the best item to correct this.
