What happens to recycled aluminium drinks cans ?

Do they get used again, as to say that the soda/fizzy drinks can that your probably holding has been used by about 5 people before or do they get turned into another item that requires the use of aluminium?

1. Ah yes the recycling scam! Most of them go into a container which is shipped out to India and then dumped into a landfill site along with all the other "recycled" material!
2. Recycled aluminum drink cans are turned into new drink cans. Less energy is expended, no new raw materials are needed, and the can stays out of the landfill.
3. They get melted down into ingots and are re-used
