How do I remove the aluminium frames that were used for secondary glazing on windows?

I am trying to remove secondary glazing from the inner frame on our sash windows. I have already taken the glass out, but I can't find any obvious screws to undo, that allow the aluminium frames for the secondary window to be removed. Any help gratefully received! Thanks for the first answer, but the window itself is actually already out, it is the frame that remains I am trying to remove. I'm thinking that it us glued in to the wooden window surround.

  1. If they're storm windows, a lot times they are spring loaded on an outside edge. You would apply pressure against the spring (push up or down) and then slide the window out.
  2. Some of them have tongues extending into the adjoining piece. If you put one edge in a vice and use a punch and hammer against the edge which is not in the vice you can separate them. It takes a little experimentation to discover which direction the tongue extends. I have taken a few of them apart successfully this way. Good Luck.
