Can I wrap food with Aluminium Foil and put it inside a pot and on a stove?

I'm experimenting new ways of cooking and I wanna make an oven out of this.. so is this possible? the pot is steel btw.

1. I can see no advantage to wrapping in foil if you are going to cook in a covered pot anyway. The end result is steamed food.
2. I do this with things I am going to put in the oven. On stove top your just going to create a mess
