What type of wrap prevents evaporation, aluminium foil or plastic wrap?

And please tell which you think it is.

  1. Al is the most impervious to evaporation, hovever it is the hardest to get a tight seal. Plastic is the tightest seal but most vapors have a permeation factor with a particular plastic. The plastics are designed to be pretty good with most common stuff and will give a better seal.
  2. Brian seems to have said it, it depends on how tight you can get the seal. Evaporation is less likely to occur through aluminum foil, but the seal is harder to achieve. Evaporation will occur through plastic wrap, but you can get a seal easier.
  3. Plastic wrap is much better regardless of evaporation rates because aluminium foil can react with the food which damages the outer coating and then Al reacts with oxygen and various metals go into your food (you'll see them as dark spots) which you don't want!
