Can cooking vegetables in aluminium foil be a serious health risks? ?

Someone told me recently that cooking in aluminium foil can be a health risk. I cook my vegetables (potatoes, onions, carrots, etc) everyday in the oven with aluminium foil. I usually put it in there for up to 1hr at 450 degrees. Is there a health risk ? Yeah, I make a pouch with it.

  1. No health risk or else Reynolds would be out of business.
  2. Not sure what you mean... do you like make a pouch or something? Or are you referring to wrapping potatoes or just covering a dish with foil? If you're just covering with foil and there's little if any direct contact, no worries at all. Even if you make a pouch or wrap them, you should be good because aluminum doesn't leech into foods that way. Even if it did, you'd need some sort of acid to start the reaction. Like tomatoes might be able to do it but I think they'd have to be extremely acidic. Aluminum's been safe for years and years as a cookware and in uses like foil.
  3. They are probably thinking of the time when caution was advised when cooking in aluminum pans. As with all things, nothing is good for you, ( unless it tastes like cardboard lol) but aluminum foil won't bother. Just keep cooking and enjoy!!
