How do I find a university course in structural steel design in the summer of 2010?

- You are cutting it CLOSE! If there is still time, any college that offers metallurgical engineering [sometimes metallurgical and materials engineering] would have courses in that subject. I found 106 schools with relevant majors at: http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/servlet/advsearchservlet?buttonPressed=viewResults&navigateTo=9&viewpage=1 It is up to you to start with the closest school to you and search their web pages for the summer schedule of classes. Good luck.
- The term "structural steel design", as used in Civil/Structural Engineering, has very little to do with metallurgy. It has to do with learning codes and strength/moment characteristics of standard structural steels, and learning how to chose the right cross-sections. There are academic classes, classes put on by the American Society of Civil Engineers, and there are commercial courses.
